The Prodigy – Invaders Must Die Video
A few years ago I did a couple of trips to my home county of Kent to photograph the Maunsell sea forts and the acoustic sound mirrors in Denge. The sea forts are huge structures that were built in the Thames Estuary, 5 or so miles from the coast. They housed military personnel with the sole purpose of shooting down invading German aircraft. They’re incredible structures, and remind me a lot of the aliens in War of the Worlds.

There are several sound mirrors scattered throughout Kent, but the best examples are in Denge, near Dungeness:

Acoustic Sound Mirrors
These were used as an early warning system by amplifying the sound of approaching aircraft. Again, these structured are really impressive. The one on the far left of the picture is incredible – if you put two people at either end of it, and one person whispers at one end, the acoustics are such that the whisper travels down the length of the mirror, and the person at the other end can hear it perfectly.
Anyway, the point of all this is that someone pointed me in the direction of video for the new Prodigy song, Invaders Must Die.
For some reason, the guy in the video visits both the sounds mirrors and the sea forts, which is pretty random. If you ever get the opportunity to go and see these yourself, I highly recommend it.
